After the rain

I'm using the dreary weather as an excuse to bum around our apartment and its immediate surroundings. My mom just left yesterday and we already miss her! The two weeks were a whirlwind of activity balanced by chats over tea and sweets or savories while Lucas napped in the afternoon. There are so many things to write about including caviar, bananas, bats flying at our heads and the symphony.

But, I'll start with yesterday afternoon. We came home after dropping my mom off at the airport and lazed around (Lucas's version of lazing is playing furiously with cars.) After a nap we decided to try out the new "Made in Czech Republic" rainboots. Lucas walked back and forth in the puddle above for quite some time.

The water was murky black with a thin coating of pollen on top. I was glad that Lucas was well protected. But apparently Lucas wanted a more intimate experience with the puddle. So he paused his pacing, delicately dipped his finger into the water and looked at me as he tasted it. I didn't even know what to say. Luckily a man was passing by and happened to be watching too. It was so hilarious that we burst out laughing and couldn't stop. Then he asked Lucas "Dobre?" One of the few Czech words that I know... "Good?"
